About Alistair

Alistair loved words from an early age.

From the age of 6, he was always the school play narrator.

At 8, he was winning school handwriting competitions.

At 10, he was participating in writing and speaking events at the local Eisteddfod.

At 12, he wrote a play with a schoolfriend over packed lunches.

At 14, he was maxing out his library card taking out 8 books every Saturday, knowing full well he'd never read them all in time.

His law degree in the late-90s somewhat diminished his love of reading and writing, and it wasn't until after the passing of his mother in 2022 that he chose to jump back in and pursue creative writing for enjoyment again.

In his professional life Alistair has a marketing consultancy in Wiltshire, is married with two teenage children, two dogs and two cats.

Featuring: writing as a way to get back up off the sofa, grief, winning awards for handwriting, being a gardener, not an architect on the page, Jim’s brutal methods, being poetry-curious, requesting homework and not doing it, knowing Wednesday evenings are for writing and writing only, the journey to publication, sheds, opening up on and off the page, jazz bars minus jazz, getting lost in Belfast, the power of experimental accidents producing something special, being part of a group that holds each other up, and finding a place to be authentically challenged, seen, and understood.

With forever gratitude to my brother, Tom Hall, for providing the opening/closing soundtrack.
